The No Bummer Summer Reader

It's that time of year to just be lazy & chillax! Get to the beach & relax to the sound of waves or Hop on the nearest couch or recliner in front of the fire place (or so I wish) with your book or E-reader all cozy.

Whether you are bored & stuck with a black out or have cabin fever from spring hay fever, or Jack frost just pooped on your lawn and you're snowed in, or just flat out sick?

Maybe you have to do what I call the 'Free Reign' book report (Meaning you can read anything you may be interested in) Looking for recreational reading? I should have the answer here being as I think I may possibly have everything (or close to it) you may need to help you out. Also see my 2013 year of the book series for the ULTIMATE Book Report form/outline take notes then write the report.

I used to have this set up lke a book store would be with sections of new Releases & best sellers in one section, by genre, a Themed section, by age with a children's, young adult, & adult sections as well as my favorites (which includes recommended to and by me) even What I'm currently reading, but as it says in the next section (I've had to change the format (or is style a better word?).

There are links for virtual books shelves, How to repair a books, as well as a video, and a book you can order to learn more. There's also an option of what you can do with your books when you are done reading them. (think of it as an experiment)

What is a Number Line

Here's a compilation of Books either sold as a box set collection or at least one of the books in a series., There's around 15 books in the sweep series but you can also buy them as a single book with a few of each of the books included (see listing below for what I mean)

There's WAY too many Sweet Valley High books to list all (I saw one that said Book 134!! So this is just a mention of the series and same for the Hardy Boys

I have personally read or have at least one book in a series so far (sookie stakhouse (true Blood) series Dead as a Doornail, Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) Vampire Academy) or have the books listed on my wish list to be read.

R.L. Stine this author knows how to chill teens bones. The author has had two runs that I know of, of his GOOSEBUMPS stories and have been turned into Tv series or movies!

Sadly I recently lost this section but I am trying to remember the books I had on here. The "Ready to Read' books levels are as follows

Pre-level 1 Reconizing Words = Word Repition Familliar Words & Phrases and simple sentences

Level 1 Starting to Read= Simple stories, INcreased Vacabulary & Longer sentences

Level 2 Reading Independently= More- complext stories, Varied Sentence structure and paragraphs and short chapters

Level 3 Reading Proficiently= Rich Vocabulary, More challenging stories and Longer chaptes (ages 6-8 for Bunnicula)

Barnes & Nobles (& I'm sure amazon as well) sells a book You can include what you've read, I think it also has a section for those you'd like to read (& can include the Isbn ##) with spots for reviews I also have in the themed list some log books and think one or 2 are for children

Title, Author, Date started, Date Ended, How many pages & an 'Other' column for any other notes I might think maybe a grade of how I liked it)

You can even add stars for miles stones 25th 50th 100th books read

*Use a book that way you can use the above + write a review) or make your Own sheet like I did in word or database program

We all have a preference to what we like to read. Some use reading as escapism to get away from life, So that would be along the lines of FANTASY SUPERNATURAL etc stories some like mysteries crime & thrillers

Others like FICTION or a feel good NON-FICTION story

Some want a wirlwind ROMANCE

There's others looking for the truth Sci-fi Ghost Stories etc.

Others like learning on their own maybe some sort of self help book

This is my Favorite way to pass around books to friends & family, or just to leave them in a waiting room, Bus, Train, rest area and so on. A friend of mine even found a book crossing book and sent it to me.

I get an update when someone leaves a journal Entry (review) of the book.

To me There's nothing like the smell and different textures of the pages as well as thickness Hardcovers to paperback and so on.

I think the reading experience is not only picturing what you are reading, but entails the smell of the book & the texture of the pages. Some feel different also sometimes the pages have that straight edge others look like they have that 'ripped' off look. Like the pages have become so dry, they are flaking away. I also find them easier when doing research to spread out rather than having to move (however you do) between books etc. on the e-readers, or windows & tabs on the computer. I can see all the pages I left open at a glance with the physical books, with the computer or I guess an e-reader, Its only one screen that can only show so much info at once. so for me REAL books are better and always will be.

Tho' yes there is room for E-readers, I can only understand them for those that are students or constantly 'Up in the air' (always traveling or moving) or the minimalists.

I started to write a couple of stories in october (2011) I prefer to write in a composition book, or a binder with loose leaf paper

take an idea from a book you are reading.

Use a funny situation or embarrassing one from your life

Give yourself a goal.

say 2 pages front and back (I usually write on loose-leaf) but that would be 4 pages if writing in word or some other processor.

Deadline - 1 full day from wake to bed.

Use something from your day in the story. A situation at work, Lunch time or a treat at Starbucks. (Why not make the barista some superhero make up a name and write a story with them as main character and one of the patrons is the villain (or the other barista is) use those sitting outside as those he must save.

Inspiration comes when and where you least expect it (I really hate that, as I do not always have a pen & paper around to jot down the ideas for poems or my stories. One in which I got the idea from something someone said in a book or tv show.)
